BOTTLED-IN-BOND

WHEATED BOURBON

A Softer Approach to Our Bourbon

What is a Wheated Bourbon?

Wheated Bourbons are a subcategory of Bourbon. All Bourbon must be made with at least 51% Corn, but the rest of the recipe is up to the distillers. The vast majority of Bourbons on the market today are "High Rye," meaning Rye grain is the secondary ingredient. Our Signature Bourbon is a High Rye mash bill. Wheated Bourbons are the inverse, so our mash bill is 70% Corn, 25% Soft Red Winter Wheat, and 5% Rye. This leads to a softer, more approachable Bourbon that losses the spicy Rye finish in exchange for stronger sweet notes like Caramel, Vanilla, and Butterscotch.

The Bottle-in-Bond Act was implemented into Federal law on March 3, 1897. The purpose of the act was to bring more transparency to the shady whiskey industry of the late 1800s. Today the designation is a sign of authenticity and high quality. This batch Minglewood's Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon Whiskey was distilled in the Spring of 2020 and barreled in number 20-20. All of the grain used is grown locally. Four years later, it has been dumped and bottled at exactly 100 proof. Each label is marked with the barrel used and the bottle number.
